Women:
- Girls were trained from birth on how to be wives. They learned how to grind grain, cook, make beverages, and weave.
- Marriage was usually arranged. if the fiancee died before the wedding the bride would be required to marry a brother or other male relative.
- There was a large gap between the rights of a high or low status women.
- In Babylonian times many women were slaves but in Sumerian times women held basic rights.
- Women could become midwives or a tavern keeper selling the beer they made.
Men:
- Had the option of becoming a priest, soldier, or farmer.
- Priests were considered upper class and if you got sick you called a Priest.
- Traded in the markets.
- Took care of all legal matters referring to their family.
